THE NUMBER OF IDEALS OF Z[x] CONTAINING x(x− α)(x− β) WITH GIVEN INDEX

چکیده
It is well-known that a connected regular graph is strongly-regular if and only if its adjacency matrix has exactly three eigenvalues. Let B denote an integral square matrix and 〈B〉 denote the subring of the full matrix ring generated by B. Then 〈B〉 is a free Z-module of finite rank, which guarantees that there are only finitely many ideals of 〈B〉 with given finite index. Thus, the formal Dirichlet series ζ〈B〉(s) = ∑ n≥1 ann −s is well-defined where an is the number of ideals of 〈B〉 with index n. In this article we aim to find an explicit form of ζ〈B〉(s) when B has exactly three eigenvalues all of which are integral, e.g., the adjacency matrix of a strongly-regular graph which is not a conference graph with a non-squared number of vertices. By isomorphism theorem for rings, 〈B〉 is isomorphic to Z[x]/m(x)Z[x] where m(x) is the minimal polynomial of B over Q, and Z[x]/m(x)Z[x] is isomorphic to Z[x]/m(x+γ)Z[x] for each γ ∈ Z. Thus, the problem is reduced to counting the number of ideals of Z[x]/x(x−α)(x− β)Z[x] with given finite index where 0, α and β are distinct integers.

z_R-Ideals and z^0_R -Ideals in Subrings of R^X
Let X be a topological space and R be a subring of RX. By determining some special topologies on X associated with the subring R, characterizations of maximal fixxed and maximal growing ideals in R of the form Mx(R) are given. Moreover, the classes of zR-ideals and z0R-ideals are introduced in R which are topological generalizations of z-ideals and z0-ideals of C(X), respectively. Various c...
متن کاملConnections between C(X) and C(Y), where Y is a subspace of X
In this paper, we introduce a method by which we can find a close connection between the set of prime $z$-ideals of $C(X)$ and the same of $C(Y)$, for some special subset $Y$ of $X$. For instance, if $Y=Coz(f)$ for some $fin C(X)$, then there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the set of prime $z$-ideals of $C(Y)$ and the set of prime $z$-ideals of $C(X)$ not containing $f$. Moreover, c...
متن کاملASSOCIATED PRIME IDEALS IN C(X)
The minimal prime decomposition for semiprime ideals is defined and studied on z-ideals of C(X). The necessary and sufficient condition for existence of the minimal prime decomposition of a z-ideal / is given, when / satisfies one of the following conditions: (i) / is an intersection of maximal ideals. (ii) I is an intersection of O , s, when X is basically disconnected. (iii) I=O , when x X h...
متن کاملOn ideals of ideals in $C(X)$
In this article, we have characterized ideals in $C(X)$ in which every ideal is also an ideal (a $z$-ideal) of $C(X)$. Motivated by this characterization, we observe that $C_infty(X)$ is a regular ring if and only if every open locally compact $sigma$-compact subset of $X$ is finite. Concerning prime ideals, it is shown that the sum of every two prime (semiprime) ideals of e...
متن کامل$z^circ$-filters and related ideals in $C(X)$
In this article we introduce the concept of $z^circ$-filter on a topological space $X$. We study and investigate the behavior of $z^circ$-filters and compare them with corresponding ideals, namely, $z^circ$-ideals of $C(X)$, the ring of real-valued continuous functions on a completely regular Hausdorff space $X$. It is observed that $X$ is a compact space if and only if every $z^circ$-filter ...
